Divya Agarwal: I was sure I will not fall into a relationship now until it is marriage
Reality TV star and Bigg Boss OTT winner Divya Agarwal opens up about getting engaged on her 30th birthday, saying it all was a big surprise for her.
Reality TV star Divya Agarwal recently made her relationship with businessman Apurva Padgaonkar official, and went on to surprise her fans with the news of her engagement. And she reveals that it is an “old affair”, which has found a new meaning in her life.
The actor not only made her relationship official but also shared candid pictures from her engagement with her beau, at her 30th birthday bash. “At times, you just go with the flow, and getting engaged was about it. My birthday was just meant for it,” says an elated Agarwal, and adds, “In my head, since childhood, I had this thought that I’ll get married at 30 and I’m happy I took the first step towards that dream.”
In fact, she calls herself as ‘his baico (wife)’ in the post. Ask when is marriage finally going to take place, the Bigg Boss OTT winner says she doesn’t have any idea about the date at the moment.
“I had no idea about the (engagement) plan a night before it happened. I don’t know when and how we will get married. But if this engagement has happened, so will marriage. Right now, this is as good as being married,” says Agarwal, who hit headlines after she announced separation from actor Varun Sood, ending their four-year-long relationship earlier this year.
When it comes to her love story with Padgaonkar, she prefers to call it giving love another chance. Agarwal used to date him before entering showbiz, and reconnected with him recently, with the time spent with him this year helping her clear her mind about her future.
“I used to date Apurva before I went to Splitsvilla, way before I got name and fame. We have a background and a huge history back with us. People close to me, my friends and families from childhood know him pretty well, and he knows me. Earlier, we tried and then things didn’t work out. So, we had to part away and then we got busy with our careers,” she recalls.
Agarwal asserts that it’s about the right road. “During my lowest times in my life, my friends have played a major part. During the worst times of my life, my friends have pulled me up. So, during a low phase of my life, he understood what I needed in my life. I was missing my father, things went down like that. I was quite sceptical because of the entire fiasco of everything going around me, and dating several boys. A lot was on my mind. I was like ‘I will not fall into a relationship until and unless it’s a marriage’.”
And now, Agarwal credits Padgaonkar for helping her reconnect with herself, which she lost after losing her father in 2020.
“He got me back to my roots which was very much needed. After papa passed away, that was the time when I was quite disconnected to everything… I was not meeting with my friends because they reminded me of my father, and used to stay away from my family as well. I was going through a lot of things which I didn’t even realise. He helped me reconnect. Now, when I meet my friends, they say ‘You are back’, which is all because of Apurva,” she ends.
