They are back with a bang and playing instant style saviours for our Bollywood beauties. Straightened, trimmed and even uneven — bangs or fringes are the new buzzword in town. The quick-transform solution has always been a hit and with actors like Anushka Sharma, Freida Pinto, Genelia D’Souza and Sameera Reddy sporting them, the trend is getting hotter. “Going for bangs is the easiest choice to make if you want to transform your look.

For those who don’t want to cut the length or try anything drastic, this look is perfect. Straight bangs, tear drop bangs and a really short fringe — reminiscent of the 60s — is hot right now,” says Ambika Pillai, hair and beauty expert.

“We get a lot of customers, especially college students, who want to try bangs. The experimental kinds are going for notched bangs, which are asymmetric and uneven at the bottom. Selena Gomez also did it,” says beauty expert Aashmeen Munjaal. Indeed, tress transformation helps mould one’s entire look, and Bollywood stylist Rick Roy agrees.

“The young Bollywood brigade is bridging the gap between on-screen fashion and real life fashion. The Madhuri Dixit-style big locks was the only trend at one point, but now the stars experiment more and hairstyle adds character to their looks,” he says.
