Fashion takes over

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week spring/summer 2010 (WIFW) is a unified fashion week in true sense. This time, the week doesn’t only see designers from the splinter group that participated in the breakaway Delhi Fashion Week but also a strong contingent from Lakme Fashion Week regulars.

Tarun Tahiliani and Rohit Bal, who had skipped the WIFW for two seasons, are back with a bang. Tahiliani will be opening the week while Bal will close it with his magnanimous grand finale show. LFW regulars Narendra Kumar Ahmad and Wendell Rodricks are showcasing at WIFW after a long hiatus as are Sonal Dubal and Anshu Arora Sen.

On the business front too, WIFW will have Didier Grumbach, the president of Chambre Syndicale, international buyers from Anthropologie, La Rinascente, Selfridges, Maria Luisa, Barneys New York, Tsum - Moscow and Saks Dubai.

Partying is an essential part of any successful fashion week and WIFW has one every night. The confirmed high-profile bashes are by Tarun Tahiliani on the opening day at the Aman New Delhi, and by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna at their house in Golf Links. Ashish Soni is planning one at a club, and Sanchita Ajjampur is hosting a hoity-toity sit-down dinner at Olive Bar & Kitchen. And obviously, there’ll be the grand finale bash hosted by Wills Lifestyle with enfant terrible Rohit Bal.
