We all love our suede boots and almost everyone believes at least one pair is a must-have in the wardrobe. But, we all know suede boots are high maintenance. So, here are some tips to keep those boots in good shape.
1 Raise the nap:
Always make sure that the nap of suede is raised. Use a brittle brush, a terry cloth towel or a steam iron too helps. To raise the nap, put the iron 10 inches away from the boots and then solely apply the steam. You’ll get the desired effect.
2 Dirt control:
Suede tends to accumulate dirt quickly. The easiest way to clean the loose dirt is to use a dry towel, a soft suede brush or a dry sponge.
3 Get it erased:
To clean scuff marks, use a suede/pencil eraser. Gently rub the soiled area using the eraser but no back and forth movements as it will further spread the marks. Do it until the trapped dirt loosens up. Later, clean it with a dry towel.
4 Soak it up:
If caught up in a rainy weather, the first thing to do once you reach home is to soak up the water in your boots. Clean it with a paper towel, but don’t wipe, as it will deepen the scuff marks.
5 Keep it moist-free:
To keep the inside of the suede boot moist-free, either put paper towel or stuff some rag pieces inside the boots and leave it overnight. It will not only help in soaking the moisture, but will also keep the boots in the exact shape.
