Actor Emma Watson donned a mimimal chic make up with dramatic gold eyes smudged with black eye shadow at the premiere of the Harry Porter in New York on ….. Apart from the strapless Bottega Veneta voluminous creation, what really stood out were her dramatic bold eyes. With the look, Watson channeled the gold leaf eye make up, which comprises of smoky kohl eyes finished with gold dust at the corners and lots of mascara. Though the overdone version of this trend has been spotted on and off in the party circuit and wedding functions, but Emma’s subtler option was a delight to watch and definitely a trend to cop.

The look
The so called gold leaf eye make up concentrates more on the smoky kohl effect on the eyelids and a hint of gold at the corners to finish the eyes from the corners. The rest of the make up is kept minimal so the effect is enhanced and the eyes remain the focus of the look.

How to get the look
“To get this look you first need to apply a good quality black eyeshadow starting from the inside of your eyes , making strokes towards the outside , then take a thin brush and apply a thin line of the eyeshadow under your eye. After this apply a thick quote of kohl in your eyes and above the eyelid, after this take a smudger brush and smudge the kajal well with the shadow to give a even texture both above and under the eye lid. After this take a nice golden shadow and apply it on the inside of your eyes taking the strokes mid way to your eye lid and do the same with the lower lid , giving the look a shadow effect . After this you can make a few chip like designs at the end of the eye with a golden liner. Finally dollop a lot of waterproof mascara on your lashes and use a curler to get the final Emma Watson look,” says Poonma sharma, vedic spa mantra.

What to keep in mind: The trend is really hot this season. “More and more brides are also trying the look in cocktail and sagan functions. Keep in mind to use gel based eye shadow so it does not get smudged easily and stays for longer. With such heavy dramatic eyes, keep the base natural and simple. For lips, take a neutral shade gloss to complete the look.” says make-up artist Simmi Ghai.
