Parisian designers display their collection
Paris-based designers Sagar and Lecoanet are unveiling their first couture line in India.
Hemant Sagar and Didier Lecoanet, the Paris-based designers, are unveiling their first couture line for Indian buyers. Their three-day exhibition-cum-sale is on till March 18 at Carma.

The duo believes in understanding the needs of their buyers and creating clothes accordingly. “For research purposes, we set up an Indian buying cell with people like Delhi model Bhavana Singh and Delhi-based French exporter Alex Lieury on it. We asked them to pick designs which would click in the Indian market,” he adds. The research led the duo to understanding the psyche of Indian women. “Indian women have bigger hips, slimmer waistlines and heavier bosoms. So the clothes have to suit their bodies,” says Sagar. Sagar and Lecoanet’s Spring-Summer 2005 collection has everything from trousers to skirts to spaghettis. It is priced between Rs 4,000 and Rs 15,000. “It has a lot of cotton and linen mixed with lycra for a better fit,” adds Sagar.
