“We have a lot of buyers who want pink jeans,” says Manish Saksena of Tommy Hilfiger India. Rahul Singh of Ritu Wears says, “There is a sudden craze for them. We have jeans in various shades of pink and they’re flying off shelves fast.”

Style gurus give it a thumbs-up. “It brings in a mood change and freshness,” says Delhi-based designer Rina Dhaka. Payal Jain says, “It’s a very stylish 80s trend.” However, designer Urvashi Kaur warns, “Pink jeans can make your lower body look bigger. So You need a well-toned body to pull it off.”

Some style experts feel pink is too kiddish a colour to flaunt on the legs. “I think pink is too Barbie-ish a shade for denim. It’s like screaming out loud that you are the ‘with it’ girl. The trend will reach its peak and then die down,” says designer Namrata Joshipura.
