As she readies herself to take over the Emmy stage, we ask design experts what actor Priyanka Chopra should wear to the awards.

After walking the Oscars red-carpet back in February, actor Priyanka Chopra is under the style radar again, as she readies herself to present an award at the prestigious Emmys, scheduled to take place on September 18 in Los Angeles. While PeeCee tweeted on Friday: “This should be such a fun evening... And the search for the perfect dress begins. #Emmys,” her post has started style pundits wondering what the star would be wearing this time.

“I would love for Priyanka to be dressed in khadi through which she can represent India’s textile heritage. She could do it with a modern twist, which will bring together her roots, while she faces her future,” says designer Ritu Beri. On the other hand, designer Anju Modi believes Priyanka should not limit herself to ethnicwear. “She is representing India but need not stick to any diktat to wear a sari. Priyanka should not be forced to wear ethnic. At an international platform, you wouldn’t expect someone from Spain to turn up in their traditional garb, so why expect it from Priyanka?” Designer Nikhil Mehra says looking ‘exotic’ is not the way to go. “The event is going to be super glam and all ‘American’ so it makes sense for her to not wear something that will make her pop like a sore thumb,”
