fashion and trends Updated: Feb 08, 2013 01:46 IST

If you are a fashion lover, and never tire of shopping, there’s enough happening in the city this month to keep you on your toes. Bringing together veterans as well as upcoming names from the field of fashion and decor to showcase latest trends are some exciting exhibitions that include Savoir Faire, India Design ID 2013, and Design One 2013. We tell you what you can check out for.

Luxe, prêt, couture and more
Exhibitions that, under one roof, provide everything right from Indian and Western apparel, jewellery, shoes, accessories, handicrafts, décor items are becoming popular. Designers who are showcasing at the Savoir Faire include Rohit Bal, Namrata Joshipura, Pria Kataria Puri, Puja Nayyar, Hemant and Nandita and Renyu Taandon.

Fashionable twist to activism
Design One 2013 by Sahachari Foundation aims to activate social change through shopping experience. It’ll help raise funds for three NGOs: Sakha Cabs for Women, Shine and Cequin. Here, you can take your pick from designer brands including Ranji Kelekar, Amrich, Nikasha, and jewellery from Kothari Fine Jewels and others. Designer ensembles will be presented by Surily Goel, Masaba Gupta, Trupsel and Studio Ennen, among others. Shop for shoes, accessories, home accessories and more.

For some fancy decor

And as you shop for designer wear, those looking at perking up the decor of their homes can check out some cool creations at the the two-day-long decor exhibition, India Design ID 2013.

Apart from fancy furnishings, the exhibition also targets reducing the gap between consumers and creators. So, get ready to open your homes to some uber luxe furnishings, right in the city. Talking about the event, interior designer Sarita Handa says, “This luxury décor exhibit will offer great options for the consumers, especially the young urban couples who have a greater penchant for designer consumer goods and have refined tastes too.”

Decor companies too seem to be elated with the new opportunities. Hoping to explore a new market, Mumbai-based architect-designer Pinakin Patel says, “This show will allow people to see discerning products related to home decor, all under one roof.” Designer Sunita Kohli, on the other hand, is all in awe of the slew of lighting fixtures that’ll be showcased here.

“There is no great contemporary lighting in terms of styling or techniques available as yet in India. Now, that the market has opened up, we’d like to work with premier lighting brands,” says Kohli.
