With FIFA World Cup getting underway in Russia on Thursday, football fever has gripped the entire planet. And like any other football fan, ace India cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh has also chosen his favourite team and player to cheer for in the World Cup.

In a Twitter post on Thursday, Bhajji admitted that he would be having sleepless nights for next one month, rooting for Argentina star Lionel Messi.

“Over the next one month I am gonna sleepless night for this man.. GO MESSI GO @TeamMessi @FIFAWorldCup #Argentina ?? #Russia2018”, Harbhajan wrote in his tweet.

Messi, who will turn 31 on June 24, has a massive fan following across the world. Regarded as one of the best footballers of all time, he is a five-time winner of Ballon d’Or award.

Despite his stellar success at club level with Barcelona, Messi has not managed to win a major trophy at international level with Argentina. The 30-year-old had a great run in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil scoring a total of four goals and winning the Golden Ball for being the tournament’s best player.

However, his team lost to Germany in the final, thanks to a late goal by Mario Gotze. This year’s World Cup, therefore, offers the Argentina star probably his last chance to win the elusive crown.

Argentina are clubbed with Croatia, Iceland, Nigeria in Group D. They will play their first match against Iceland at Spartak Stadium, Moscow on Saturday.
