Edinson Cavani ruled out of Uruguay’s international friendly vs Italy
Edinson Cavani sustained a hamstring injury during Uruguay’s 3-1 defeat to Ireland and will now miss the friendly against Italy, the Uruguayan Football Association has confirmed.
Edinson Cavani will miss Wednesday’s friendly match against Italy after being substituted early during the friendly game against Ireland, the Uruguayan Football Association has confirmed.
“He (Cavani) underwent a scan and it was decided he would not play in the friendly against Italy because of a hamstring strain,” the AUF said on their official website.

The timing of the injury could have not have been worse for Oscar Tabarez’s men as they now go into the game against Italy with a severe lack of firepower. Luis Suarez was not called up for the friendlies due to a hamstring injury of his own, which happened last month during a training session with Barcelona.
Cavani has been in fine form for Paris Saint-Germain this season. He netted 49 times in all competitions and fired the side to a second-place finish in Ligue 1.
