18-yr-old dead, brother hurt in Bike-truck collision

An 18-year-old youth was killed and his minor brother was critically injured after a speeding dumper truck rammed into their motorcycle on the Sohna Palwal Road in Lakhuwas village on Thursday. A case has been registered against the driver.

The incident took place when Sohna resident Ninder Singh was returning home with his brother Mohinder (11) when a speeding dumper truck collided with his motorcycle. Villagers blocked the road for hours on Thursday morning and set the dumper on fire.

Ninder’s father Shiv Charan Singh, who was working nearby, immediately rushed to the spot along with a group of villagers. Sources said a PCR was chasing the dumper and the driver in his bid to escape, rammed into Ninder’s bike.

An inconsolable Shiv Charan said, “I came to Sohna 15 years ago. My financial condition is poor. I had started working in the fields to earn my livelihood. My world is shattered.”

ACP Bhupinder Singh also reached the spot. The villagers told him that policemen allegedly collected money from truck drivers on a daily basis and this caused traffic jams on the road.

The ACP assured to look into the matter. “I have received complaints from villagers that PCR policemen often take bribe from dumper drivers. I will take strict action,” added the ACP.
