A BJP leader and husband of a Gurgaon municipal councillor was shot at by a group of armed assailants on Wednesday night outside his Sushant Lok residence.
According to the police, Anil Yadav, 42, was attacked after he objected to a group of men who were drinking alcohol inside a Mercedes parked in the area.
When Yadav was walking along with his cousin outside his house, the attackers came in three-four cars and shot five rounds at him. One bullet hit him in the elbow, a police officer said.
While fleeing, the assailants abandoned one of their SUVs on the spot. The vehicle belongs to local businessman Amit Chawla who was present along with another businessman friend Vineet Sood when the shootout took place. The police are investigating if gunshots were fired by the personal security guards of these businessmen.
Yadav was rushed to a private hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Sector 29 police station against a dozen of men on Thursday. The police have identified seven men and are conducting raids to arrest the accused. So far, the cops have arrested Raghav, Sunil Yadav and Vineet Sood.
