Businessman kidnapped, freed after 10 lakh ransom

A city- based businessman was kidnapped by a group of men who later released him after they got Rs. 10 lakh as ransom. The amount was arranged by the victim’s friends, said the police. No arrests have been made so far.

According to the police, Sarfaraz, a resident of Sector 56 runs three cabs in a MNC in Udyog Vihar. He complained to police that he met Arjun Gujjar recently and became friends.

Victim received a call from Gujjar on March 4 and they agreed to meet in the evening at victim’s house. Three more men were already in the car. They left the place and moved towards, IFFCO Chowk.

After few minutes they all went to a shop where the accused and his friends took him hostage. He was tied up in the room and was asked to arrange Rs. 20 lakh else he would not be released.

The victim immediately called his family members and asked to send Rs. 6lakh and Rs. 3 lakh transferred online to the accused’s account.

“He was released late night after they received Rs. 10 lakh. On Saturday, victim reported the incident to police and Sector 18 police booked four men under several sections of IPC including extortion and threatening for life,” said ACP(Crime) Rajesh Kumar.
