Call on date of transfer of eight private colonies to Gurugram civic body today

A key decision on the date of maintenance transfer of eight private colonies to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will be taken on Friday as the private developers concerned and officials of several civic bodies are going to deliberate over this via video conference, MCG officials said on Thursday.

“Officials will take an update from private developers on the progress in fixing civic amenities prior to the final takeover. Depending on their response, a decision on the date of takeover will be taken,” ND Vashisht, chief engineer, MCG, said.

Apart from MCG officials and private developers, officials from civic bodies such as Town and Country Planning (TCP), PWD and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) will also be in attendance for Friday’s meeting. During a meeting in Chandigarh on August 9, KM Pandurang, director general, TCP, had directed private developers to transfer maintenance of colonies to the MCG on ‘as is where is basis’. MCG officials said the transfer is unlikely to take place next week as ‘a lot of work is left in fixing civic amenities’.

MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said, “Two months’ time was granted to all developers for the transfer and it is likely to take place by September-end. DLF agreed to provide the missing amenities . The other developers may attach some property instead of submitting the monetary sum required to fix the amenities,” Yadav said.

Despite repeated attempts, neither Pandurang nor representatives from DLF, Ansal, Unitech, and Suncity could be reached for comments.
