Proposed to be launched last year with a new look, the Gurgaon police website www.gurgaon.haryana police.gov.in continues to be an outdated version.

The private sector IT company, which was awarded the contract to upgrade the website with more information and interactive features, had completed the work in September 2011. A presentation was also given to top police officials, but the website has not been updated yet.
Last year, the Gurgaon Police had stated to make the website more user-friendly and claimed that a dedicated team was working on it. The current website still carries old information. Though SHO Babu Lal has been transferred from the DLF Phase-2 police station, his picture has not been removed. However, the name of the new SHO has been uploaded on the website. Besides, traffic-related information has also not been updated since August 2011. In May 2011, the then joint commissioner of police, Alok Mittal, had said that the website would be made more user-friendly.
The city police had also decided to launch a separate Facebook page. Mittal had said this would make the department’s working more transparent and accountable.
Meanwhile, a senior police official not wishing to be named, said, “Work on the website was almost finished by October 2011. But it’s not yet clear why the website is not being launched.”
