Couples shift focus from Delhi to Gurgaon for picture-perfect pre-wedding shoots

Bored of seeing the same locations in pre-wedding shoots in Delhi, couples explore relatively lesser-tapped locations in Gurgaon.

Lodhi Garden, Hauz Khas Fort, Garden of Five Senses, Nehru Park and Qutub Minar are just some of the popular locations in Delhi that you’d spot in almost every other pre-wedding shoot you come across. That’s precisely the reason why couples as well as wedding photographers in Delhi-NCR are now exploring picturesque locations in Gurgaon — be it the Gurgaon-Faridabad highway, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary or Aravalli hills.

“Monuments of Delhi make for a beautiful background. But, people now want to explore new spots. Gurgaon, for it’s proximity to Delhi has become quite popular,” says Prashant Bhardwaj of Knot Just Pictures. “Shooting spots include resorts and farmhouses of Gurgaon.” Pawandeep Singh, photographer and owner at Coolbluez photography, adds: “As compared to Delhi, Gurgaon is much more preferred destination for pre-wedding shoots among couples now.”

While Delhi has a strong historical background to provide a backdrop for shoots, Gurgaon boasts verdant untapped locales. And with the spending capacity of the young couples increasing, day by day, they aren’t ready to compromise on the aesthetics of their pre-wedding shoot. “People travel to Badshahpur where the entire range of Aravalli hills is present as the backdrop. Apart from this, the Biodiversity Park is popular,” says Gaurav Lovey Arora of Photo Rachna Studios.

Not only the couples, but also photographers are tired of shooting in the Capital. Photographer Sukhi Singh says, “I’ve got bored of shooting at Lodhi Garden. So, I try to scout for different locations. I’ve proposed a pre-wedding video shoot at the Gurgaon-Faridabad highway to a client and they are kicked about it. It’s a great place to shoot as it has mountains on both the sides.”

Moreover, receiving permission to shoot at Delhi monuments is an issue that acts as a deterrent for photographers. Sumit Asija from Studio Future Forward, Gurgaon, says, “A lot of photographers don’t prefer to visit Delhi monuments as they have to face entry issues with security guards at monuments.”

The couples are happy to find new spots to shoot their video. Sharma, who works with an airlines, says, “All my friends got clicked in Delhi, so I didn’t want to go there again. I asked my photographer to find fresh locations. We got clicked in Sultanpur and the photos are great.”

Harpreet Singh, who runs an IT firm, got a pre-wedding shoot at a Gurgaon farmhouse recently. “You feel limited when you get shot at one particular backdrop whereas here we had props and different setups to choose from,” she adds. To this, Delhi-girl Shweta Pandiya, says, “I have planned my pre-wedding shoot on Gurgaon-Faridabad highway with a photographer as the place is still not explored and is surrounded by mountains. We are also thinking of shooting at CyberHub as I have not come across any pre-wedding shoots done there so far. The place has an international touch to it.”
