Death in Gurugram guest house: Victim’s friend, PG manager booked for murder
The victim’s father had filed a complaint alleging that his son’s female friend and the manager of the PG were complicit in the murder, dismissing the police’s earlier claims of suicide.
A week after a 23-year-old man, who worked as a clerk with an advocate at the district court, was found dead in a paying guest(PG)-cum-guest house room in Sector 38 in mysterious circumstances, the police on Monday night booked the victim’s woman friend and the manager of the PG and charged them with murder.
The victim’s father had filed a complaint alleging that his son’s female friend and the manager of the PG were complicit in the murder, dismissing the police’s earlier claims of suicide.
Dalbir Singh, station house officer (SHO), Sadar police station, said, after the complaint was made, the police registered a case of murder. However, the suspected persons are yet to be arrested. A case has been registered against the suspects under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) at the Sadar police station on Monday night, said the police.
“The exact sequence of events would be known after the accused persons are rounded up. Preliminary probe has confirmed the presence of a woman with the victim in the room. A police team had gone to question the woman, but her house was locked. The PG manager also is yet to be traced,” said SHO Singh.
In the police complaint, the victim’s father said that on March 13 at 5pm, a man who identified himself as his son’s friend called his elder son and informed him that the victim was unwell. “The friend called my wife at 6.30pm and told her that my son’s health had deteriorated, and asked us to come to the PG. When my wife, brother and sister-in-law went to the PG, my son was lying unconscious on the bed and a woman was also present in the room. The woman escaped while my son was being rushed to the hospital,” said the victim’s father.
The victim was taken to a private hospital in Sector 38 and declared dead on arrival by the doctors. An autopsy had revealed that the victim had died by hanging. During initial probe, the police had said that the victim appeared to have committed suicide by hanging.
The victim’s father further denied the claims of suicide. “If it were suicide, how come the police could not find any evidence — neither a cloth nor a rope — which may have been used as a noose? The room was completely cleaned by the PG staff. My son had known the woman for over two years and had earlier told my wife that he wanted to marry her. Later, he had a change of heart, and we were arranging a match for him in the family circles,” said the victim’s father.
The police said the victim and his female friend, both residents of Sector 9, had checked into a room on the third floor of a PG in Sector 38 at 10.58am on March 13. In the afternoon, the woman friend had allegedly called one of the victim’s friend and asked him to inform the family about the incident.
