The DTP, enforcement, has written a letter to the deputy commissioner, PC Meena, saying that power supply provided by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN) to unauthorised constructions help people dig borewells and develop illegal colonies.
“We asked the DHBVN engineer to disconnect electricity connections at two houses in Sardana as the buildings were unauthorised. But the engineers did not disconnect the line,” said Anil Dabas, district town planner (enforcement).
He said since people get electricity connections easily, they dig borewells and start construction.
“We dismantled two borewells at Sardana on Monday but we could not disconnect electricity connections since that does not come in our purview,” added Dabas.
In a meeting with the DC last month, the DTP, enforcement, had raised objections on such electricity connections and sought help from the DHBVN.
“We made it clear to the enforcement that the DHBVN has no right to disconnect electricity connections. There is clear cut Supreme Court directions not to disconnect electricity (as well as water) connections. The enforcement seal a house and give us the list and we will disconnect electricity connections,” said Sanjiv Chopra, superintending engineer, DHBVN.
