The ban had been imposed under Section 144, CrPc, in the district. Despite this, no case for violation of the government directive was registered in any police station across Gurgaon.

On November 6, district magistrate PC Meena had issued orders under the Explosive Rule-2008 prohibiting selling and storage of fire crackers and explosives without obtaining licence from the competent authority. The use of rockets had also been banned for the festival.

Meanwhile, 29 fire incidents were reported on Diwali night — 22 were related to crackers. The incidents were reported from Gwal Pahari, Khandsa Road, among other areas.
