Also, owners will now have to collect the RCs on their own. Earlier, these were delivered through speed post.

The Gurgaon district administration had started installation of the number plates on July 12, said a spokesman.

The project has been awarded to an agency — Link Utsav Registration Plates Limited — which is carrying out the task in Haryana, including Gurgaon.

A separate counter has been set up at the e-disha centre located in the Mini Secretariat where the prescribed fee is deposited at the time of submission of documents for RC.

SDM Gurgaon (north) Dr Satender Duhan said RCs have been cleared for number plates up to HR 26 BT 6200.

“Those vehicle owners who have submitted necessary documents but haven’t got the plates installed should get it done at the earliest,” said the spokesman.

He further said that some vehicle owners have deposited the requisite fee with the agency but haven’t got registration plates installed on their vehicles.

This poses hindrance in implementing the Supreme Court directive.

“After depositing the fee, the agency is bound to install the number plate within four days. If it is delayed, the agency will be penalised. On the fifth day, the agency will pay a fine of R75 to the owner and in case of further delay, the fine will be R50 per day,” the spokesperson said.
