The state government has notified municipal councilors for urban areas and numberdars and sarpanches for rural areas as introducers. Similarly, patwaris and village secretaries have been notified as verifiers. Retired employees of the central and state governments, including retired school teachers, can also be appointed as verifiers.

Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena on Thursday said the state registrar of UID felt that appointing introducers and verifiers at local level will expedite the process of Aadhaar enrolment.

Introducers would help obtain Aadhaar card to those who do not have any proof of identity or address. Verifiers will be responsible for verifying documents such as proofs of identity, residence, date of birth submitted by the applicants of Aadhaar card. According to Meena, those willing to be an introducer or a verifier will have to apply before the deputy commissioner. After scrutiny of applications, the DC would forward the names to the state registrar of UID, who would take steps to notify each person by name.
