Govt: change in norms for investment zones needed
The Haryana government on Wednesday urged the Centre to reduce the minimum size requirement for National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs).
The Haryana government on Wednesday urged the Centre to reduce the minimum size requirement for National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs). This request was made with large theme cities — proposed for Gurgaon, Mewat and other cities in the ambitious global corridor along the proposed KMP Expressway and other projects under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial corridor (DMIC) — in mind.
The chief secretary said that the minimum size of NIMZ at 5000 hectares (12500 acres) was on the higher side and that it needed to be lowered substantially. The state government has planned about a dozen theme cities to be developed as green field industrial townships under the National Manufacturing Policy. The projects for development as model initiatives under the DMIC project, including Early Bird Projects - Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre in Gurgaon, Integrated Multimodal Logistics Hub in Rewari District and Mass Rapid Transit System between Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal have also been planned by the state.
