The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the investigation is on.

The injured labourers were sleeping inside the godown and some locals, on seeing smoke billowing from the roof, raised the alarm. The labourers received burn injuries while they were trying to rush out, the police said. All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The locals immediately informed the fire department and the police.

Nine fire tenders and 50 fire officials reached the spot and it took them more than two hours to douse the flames.

“There were crackers inside the godown, which intensified the flames, but we managed to bring the situation under control within two hours. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained,” IS Kashyap, senior fire department officer, said.

On Tuesday evening, a fire was reported from a bakery in Sadar Bazar in Old Gurgaon. However, there was no casualty.
