Gurgaon: Need cloverleaf road to connect SPR and NPR, Huda tells NHAI

Huda officials will soon hold meeting with the NHAI to take the proposal forward

The Haryana urban development authority (Huda) said that a cloverleaf road pattern is urgently required at Delhi Gurgaon Expressway near Kherki Daula Toll to connect the two major peripheral roads of the city for better traffic movement. The Huda officials are to meet the officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) soon to discuss the issue.

On Friday, the Huda wrote a letter to NHAI in this regard stressing on the urgent requirement of the cloverleaf pattern to improve traffic connectivity between Gurgaon, Manesar and Pataudi.

The cloverleaf pattern will connect the southern peripheral road (SPR) and northern peripheral road (NPR), the Huda officials said.

Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav said, “The need for the cloverleaf (pattern) is unavoidable on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway as it would enable rapid movement of traffic between Manesar, Faridabad, Pataudi and Gurgaon. Cloverleaf will connect SPR and NPR and is a need of the times. The NHAI, which is to construct cloverleaf pattern, is working on a detailed project report (DPR) of the Dwarka Expressway and cloverleaf is part of it. We have requested the NHAI to make a separate DPR of the cloverleaf urgently so that construction can start at the earliest.”

Yadav said, “Dwarka Expressway or NPR largely falls within Gurgaon, except the 500-metre stretch near Kherki Daula which is on its last leg. Huda is set to start construction on the last leg of 500 metres connecting the expressway. While the SPR is already connected, our objective will not be met unless all major roads are connected. For this purpose, the cloverleaf pattern was planned. However, the delay is hampering the objective as traffic chaos at Kherki Daula has emerged as a major challenge.”

“We are working on it and we will try to complete the project on time,” said Ashok Sharma, project director, NHAI.

Once the cloverleaf pattern is complete, traffic coming from Manesar and Jaipur could go towards Faridabad via SPR.
