While both the industrial bodies had separately moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the demand notices issued by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) before, they now have a different stand on making interim payments even as the court case is underway.

The court had clubbed both the petitions filed in November and December 2012, respectively, as both had similar pleas and causes.

However, during the latest hearing, even as industrialists have been steadfast not to pay the enhanced cost until a revised calculation is done by HSIIDC, one of the bodies, the IMT Association agreed in the court that its members were willing to pay 50% of the total enhancement due of R1,300 crore.

While Miwa alleges that the stand taken by the IMT Association has weakened the case of industrialists, the former group believes it was a pragmatic approach as interests on the due were increasing day by day.

The HSIIDC, too, had proposed in the court that the industrialists make 50% of the interim payment.

Meanwhile, the next hearing is slated for April 12.
