Man strangulates pregnant wife, kills self in Gurgaon

A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after strangulating his 22-year-old pregnant wife at the couple’s residence in Devilal Colony of Sector 9 in Gurgaon on Tuesday.

The woman was eight months pregnant, said police.

The incident came to light on Monday morning when Ansar was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room while his wife Kahkashan was lying dead on the floor. Cops of sector 9 police outpost rushed to the spot after being informed by the locals.

Preliminary investigations revealed Ansar, who worked as a ditcher, was upset with his wife due to an on-going marital discord.

Ansar and Kahkashan, natives of Aligarh district in Western Uttar Pradesh, had married nine months ago. The cousins-tuned-spouses had come to live in Gurgaon with Ansar’s aunt Pari, a month ago.

“We were informed about the two bodies lying inside the room on Monday morning. We have lodged a case and are investigating it. It seems to be a case of marital discord,” said a police spokesperson.
