Master water pipeline bursts, supply hit in New Gurugram areas

Areas, including DLF, Sushant Lok, South City, Ardee City, sectors 40, 31, 45, and several other colonies were affected

Residents living in areas east of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway had to do without water on Sunday when another burst in the master water pipeline was reported near the Gur. The pipeline burst around 9am due to excessive pressure, affecting the supply to the Sector 16 boosting station. The GMDA restored the supply by 6pm.

Areas, including DLF, Sushant Lok, South City, Ardee City, sectors 40, 31, 45, and several other colonies were affected. Though officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said the morning supply was done, many areas did not receive water.

“There was no morning supply. The GMDA officials say the supply was resumed in the evening, but we still have no water,” Virender Singh, a DLF-3 resident, said around 7.30pm.

Sandeep Dahiya, executive engineer GMDA, said, “We repaired the damaged part and resumed supply by 6.30pm. Though the reason of the burst is being probed, we believe it happened due to high pressure.”

Since the beginning of this year, water pipelines have burst thrice—on April 4 at Sector 15 part 2; on May 27, when a dumper hit the master pipeline at Chandu Budhera water treatment plant, and on June 20, when a car hit the water pipeline near Sector 9-A.
