The manifesto, titled ‘Achievements and Vision Document’, has enlisted the party’s achievements and 26 points through which it wishes to ensure the comprehensive development of Gurgaon to make it a world class city.

The tenure of previous councillors ended in June last year and the elections were to be held in May.

However, it was delayed for over 14 months.

The BJP is contesting all 35 wards on the party symbol, while the Congress has decided not to do so. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has fielded candidates for 23 seats and is supporting some independent candidates in the remaining seats.

“Gurgaon’s development has been lopsided during the previous government. The city is plagued by several issues and lack of proper infrastructure is one of them. We are trying to fill all those gaps and ensure a comprehensive development of the city. Our manifesto has envisioned the future of Gurgaon,” said Subhash Barala, president, Haryana BJP.

He said in terms of infrastructure, the city is getting a number of flyovers, underpasses, and Kherki Daula toll is being shifted towards Manesar to ease traffic problems.

“It is being ensured that the situation of Gurujam that happened in 2016 is not repeated. We have formed an authority, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), for the all round development of the city,” he said after releasing the manifesto in Gurgaon.

Barala listed several other achievements of the party.

Speaking on the vision document, Barala said the MCG would be made paperless and switch to e-seva (electronic means) and all kinds of clearances and licenses would be issued online.

Asked if the murder of a 8-year-old student of Ryan International, Bhondsi, could have any impact on the polls, Barala said the state government has handed over the probe to the CBI as per wishes of victim’s family.

He said the police probed the matter meticulously and in a transparent manner.

Quizzed on anti-incumbency, Barala said such speculations are only fuelled by the opposition parties.

BJP vision document:

•MCG functioning to be made online under e-seva system

•Coordination with RWAs to resolve various issues

•Modern technology for sewer discharge and cleaning

•Metro to be connected with the railway station, which will get a modern makeover

•Streetlights to be fitted with LED and central control system by December 31
