Officials pelted with stones while demolishing illegal houses in Bhondsi
Officials of the district town planner’s (DTP) enforcement team were attacked by locals when they were carrying out an anti-encroachment drive in Bhondsi on Thursday. No one was injured in the incident.
Acting on the orders of the town and country planning (TCP), DTP officials demolished more than 50 unauthorised structures in four hours.
Locals pelted the team with stones and tried to set houses on fire. However, no one was injured as the police controlled the situation and facilitated the demolition drive.
Amit Madholia, assistant town planner (DTP), enforcement, said, “One man tried to throw a gas cylinder in our direction but the police captured him and thwarted his attempt. The angry crowd left no stone unturned to disrupt the drive.”
“We had to leave the spot for our safety. We will bring this to the knowledge of the district administration during a meeting on Friday,” Narender Kumar, an assistant town planner, said.
Officials said the unauthorised structures mushroomed in the last three years and constructions were carried out without the TCP’s approval.
“Sale of plots is not allowed in controlled areas of the district. We have a clear direction from the TCP Haryana to remove all structures such as houses, hotels, dhabas, etc, that were built without building plan approval,” Rajender Sharma, DTP, enforcement, said.
