Submit safety certificate in 15 days, Gurgaon schools told

The schools are also directed to install CCTV cameras with GPS tracking in school buses and to deploy female attendants for all buses.

The Gurgaon district administration on Tuesday directed all schools to submit safety certificates in 15 days under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), to ensure protection of school students, officials said.

The decision comes in wake of the murder of a Class 2 student at Ryan International School in Bhondsi on September 8.

The schools have been asked to form school safety committee along with two representatives of parents. All schools are required to produce a valid fire safety certificate and all fire safety equipments should be in working order. Schools have to build separate toilets for non-teaching staff.

Also, to ensure safety of students, schools have been told to install CCTV cameras at all appropriate places inside school premises. For small children, female attendants should be deployed at toilets. In addition, ramps and special toilets are supposed to be built for children with special need in all schools.

The schools are also directed to install CCTV cameras with GPS tracking in school buses and to deploy female attendants for all buses.

For security purpose, all non-teaching staffs have to get their police verification done in the next 15 days.

“The schools are required to send the compliance report to district education officer within the set time frame. Action will taken against the defaulters,” Vinay Pratap Singh, deputy commissioner, Gurgaon, said.

This step was taken by the district administration as a number of parents expressed concern about safety of students while at school and also had met the district administration various officials in the last one week to take quick action before any more untoward incident occurs.

The order also stated that violation of the order is punishable offence under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
