The members of Richmond Rockers, a junior team from Richmond Park, a gated condominium in DLF Phase-3, are participating in the Hindustan Times Great Indian Football Action (HT GIFA) for the third time. They think that the event is a great platform for them to showcase talent.
The team is excited as they had a wonderful experience in the last two seasons of HT GIFA, an ultimate soccer league for the residents of Gurgaon.
The tournament has become a household name for the residents as it gives them an opportunity to play exciting matches while representing their condominiums and sectors.
The team members of Richmond Rockers are preparing for the tournament themselves. There are nine players in the side and all of them are practising hard for the mega event.
In the first season of the tournament, the team reached the semi finals. In the second season, it played the quarter finals.
“The best thing about the event is that we are getting closer to each other and there is feeling of belongingness in our condominium. We think we will be a good competition to other teams,” said Viraj Trehan, captain of the team.
“Like last year, we have created a WhatsApp group to communicate with the members of the team. So far, the experience is good. The tournament has provided good exposure to us,” Trehan said.
Excited about the tournament, the young team has already decided on the colours of its jersey.
“The colour code of our team is black and yellow. We practise every day for at least two hours. We do it in the evening. We will practise more to win the event,” said Kashyap Subramanian, another member of the team.
The tournament has not only strengthened the bonding among the children, but has also brought their parents closers. Parents said HT GIFA is not just a tournament for them and their children, but a festival as it brings joy to the entire society.
