The snarls on the expressway were caused by the breakdown of a bus in front of Ambience Mall and an accident opposite the Airtel building also lead to a considerable slowdown in traffic.

From 9am onwards traffic congestion was reported at Mahipalpur Chowk, Rajokri, Sirhaul toll plaza, in front of Ambience Mall, Shanker Chowk, Iffco Chowk and Signature Tower crossing.

Sumit Kumar, a commuter, said that it took almost one and a half hours to cover the stretch between Mahipalpur in Delhi to Gurgaon’s Sector 31 which normally takes 20 to 25 minutes.

Hanuman Chowk on Old Delhi-Gurgaon road, a critical intersection, also saw snarls as vehicles from Udyog Vihar and from Kapashera vied with each other to cross this busy section. A large number of cars from across Gurgaon and Delhi arrive at Hanuman Chowk, where numerous offices have come up in the IT SEZ, leading to a congestion.

A traffic jam was also reported at Gurgaon-Pataudi road where some people were demonstrating against the toll tax.
