‘We were not allowed to meet Geetanjali’s daughters’
Six days after Gurgaon chief judicial magistrate’s (CJM) wife Geetanjali Garg was found dead with gunshot wounds in Police Lines complex, the family of the victim claimed they had not been allowed to meet the two daughters of the couple.
Rajeev Bansal, brother-in-law of the victim told HT, “The Garg family is not allowing us to meet the two kids. We have not been able to even see them.”
Earlier, on Sunday the family had claimed in a supplementary FIR that the Garg family had been cagey about them meeting the kids.
The supplementary FIR filed by victim’s brother Pardeep Aggarwal had said, “My sister’s children, though young and innocent, can throw light on the death of their mother and this can be a reason that they are not allowing us to meet them.”
The family believes that the kids could disclose what had transpired between Geetanjali and Heena, Ravneet’s cousin, who was there at their residence, before the former left for Police Lines.
Bansal alleged, “When we reached their house on the night when the incident took place, we were told that both the kids had slept at a neighbour’s house. We also avoided waking them. However, when we again went there the next morning, the Garg family said that they had sent the children to Panchkula.”
The family said on Sunday that they were seeking the custody of Geetanjali’s daughters.
