'Breaking Dawn Part 2' highest-grossing chapter of vampire saga

With $751.1M in the bank, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 already ranks as the most lucrative chapter in the vampire saga featuring Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, surging ahead of the second chapter in the series, New Moon ($709.82M).

With $751.1M in the bank, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 already ranks as the most lucrative chapter in the vampire saga featuring Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, surging ahead of the second chapter in the series, New Moon ($709.82M).

That wasn't enough, however, for the vampire flick to secure a top spot in this weekend's global box-office rankings. From December 7 to 9, legions of moviegoers went to the theater to watch the new animation film The Five Legends, which earned $36.54M, relegating Twilight to second place with $32.7M.

Life of Pi, directed by Ang Lee, steps in at third place ($32.1M) to overtake Skyfall. The latest flick in the Bond saga still leads the US box office and added $31.3M to its coffers this weekend, bringing its total earnings worldwide to $918.2M.
