According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlize Theron is interested in telling the life story of the journalist on the big screen. She could also take up the lead role in the movie, which was inspired by an article in Vanity Fair.

As a specialist of the Middle East, Marie Colvin corresponded with numerous outlets throughout her career, which took her to war zones in Iran, Chechnya, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, where she lost sight in her left eye in 2001. She had been reporting from the frontlines of the Arab Spring since 2011 and died in a bombing on February 22, 2012, in Syria.
