The first trailer for Neill Blomkamp's new eagerly awaited sci-fi movie has been released. The director was responsible for the 1999 movie District 9.
The trailer shows Matt Damon as an inhabitant of Earth in 2154. The planet has been ravaged by poverty and pollution.
The exoskeleton-clad character will emerge as the leader of a rebellion against Elysium, a neighboring land of plenty with no illness or poverty.
Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley will play two Elysium envoys sent to maintain the divide between the two spheres.
Elysium will release on August 9 in North America.
