Geostorm trailer: Gerard Butler’s new movie is like 20 other movies stitched together
The new trailer for Gerard Butler’s upcoming action movie, Geostorm, is overflowing with plots, characters, and poor CGI.hollywood Updated: Jul 07, 2017 08:32 IST
The first, full-length trailer for Geostorm, the new film starring Gerard Butler, was released on Thursday, and there is so much happening in it that it needs a chart to be explained.
Butler plays a scientist, who also doubles up as an astronaut, a father, an action hero, and a kidnapper, who must save the earth after terrible weather strikes.
The movie, meanwhile, has shades of 2012, Interstellar and Armageddon, to name just a few. There are scenes involving aeroplanes dropping from the sky, hail the size of an SUV crashing into Times Square like a meteor, cars flipping over, Butler doing an American accent, and the President of the United States being kidnapped in a cab.
Geostorm has been in some form of production for more than three years. After being poorly received in test screenings, director Dean Devlin was replaced by Danny Canon, and veteran action producer Jerry Bruckheimer took over.
The movie is slated for an October 20 release. It also stars Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia and Ed Harris.
