It is the birth anniversary of the woman who made the song Happy Birthday so... incredibly… sexy.

America's sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926. She acted, she sang, she modeled. Yes, she even had her own production company.

Marilyn was a star in every sense of the word. Her iconic style and beauty is unmatched and still significant today. She even personally *ahem* knew President Kennedy, which is a feat in itself.

Though her death was not as pretty as she was, it is clear that this blonde bombshell has not, and never will be, forgotten. I mean, check out all the celebrities who still want to be her…

It's hard to be an icon like Marilyn Monroe but that doesn't stop a bevy of celebrities from trying their best.

Do you prefer Sunny Leone's, Madonna's or Miley Cyrus's take on her iconic look? Or do they all make you go.. 'Mehhh'?

1 Sunny Leone

The actor donned the most iconic avatar of the glamour queen for her film Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, which (even with all the flying skirts) could not be saved from falling flat in its face at the box office.

2 Pooja Bedi

Pooja Bedi looked sexier than ever in the song 'Pehla Nasha' from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. She stood on top of a car and did her best Marilyn Monroe impression.

3Lindsay Lohan

The reformed-wild child recreated Marilyn Monroe's last photoshoot for New York Magazine's Spring 2008 issue. We dunno about how similar they look but they did surely had their fair share of troubles in life.

4 Scarlett Johansson

The Black Widow has many similarities to the late Marilyn Monroe - blonde hair, fuller lips and a killer curvy bod. And for her first round of Dolce & Gabbana makeup ads, Scarlett looked very Marilyn, with sexy light blonde curls and slick patent red lips and nail polish. She be killin' it!

Marilyn Monroe (left) and Madonna.

Madonna has done many photoshoots and videos impersonating Marilyn. But this one is simply the closest she came. Perhaps a mole would have made things ever better, don't you think?

6Blake Lively

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively recreated the iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes scene in the 100th episode in one of Blair's classic Audrey Hepburn dream sequences. Fun trivia: Madonna's Material Girl music video was a downright recreation of the scene too.

7Elizabeth Banks

Kim Kardashian gave us a blast from Hollywood's past as she channeled Monroe on the cover of Vogue Brazil. Rocking black gloves Kim posed for photographer Ellen Von Unwerth.

9Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith, one of the most famous Playboy models, was obsessed with Marilyn. She became known for wanting to be 'the next Marilyn Monroe' and did several photo shoots inspired by the beauty icon. Some... a little too controversial.

10Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus went topless for the cover of Vogue Germany's March issue inspited by Marilyn Monroe with a hint of Madonna (notice the dark eyebrows).
