Hunger Games parody in the making
Following its massive box office success, The Hunger Games will get a parody treatment by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the brains behind 2006’s parody film, Date Movie.
Following its massive box office success, The Hunger Games will get a parody treatment by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the brains behind 2006’s parody film, Date Movie.
Called The Starving Games, it will see actor Maiara Walsh play Jennifer Lawrence’s character Kantmiss Everdeen, known as Kantmiss Evershot in the spoof film. Walsh will be joined by Pretty Little Liars star Brant Daugherty, who has been cast as the spoof version of Liam Hemsworth’s Gale Hawthorne.
Friedberg and Seltzer will pen the script in addition to tackling the helming duty. They will soon begin the production in New Orleans. It is said that their parody will also poke fun at blockbuster films such as The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. As for Walsh, this will likely be her first stint in a parody film as she’s better known for her roles in drama TV series such as Switched at Birth, The Vampire Diaries and Desperate Housewives, among others.
