Justice League will release in September this year.

Ben Affleck, who played Batman in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, will don the black cape once again in Justice League, which is scheduled to release in November this year.

Warner Brothers, the presenter of the Batman franchise, is also casting Affleck in the sequel of 2016 film The Accountant. Reportedly, the writer Bill Dubuque and director Gavin O’Connor are also in talks for the proposed sequel to the 2016 feature.

But that doesn’t mean WB wants Affleck to return as the Dark Knight after Justice League as well. As per a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the studio giant is planning a graceful exit for Affleck from the franchise. The site has quoted a source suggesting that the studio doesn’t want Affleck to come back in The Batman which will be directed by Matt Reeves.

Reeves’s super success as director with Dwan of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes is also said to be a reason behind it. Reeves is said to have dropped the script written by Affleck for the next Batman movie after Justice League. It’s not likely that the studio will fight Reeves at this point of time.

However, all this is in complete contrast to what Toby Emmerich, Warners’ film studio chief, told The Hollywood Reporter. He said, “Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can.”

But such statements from studio chiefs would mean nothing if Justice League fails to achieve unprecedented success at the box office in September.
