Kevin Spacey to play Churchill in his next film

Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey will play former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a new biopic, which will explore the story of how Churchill defended Britain against Adolf Hitler.

Spacey, 54, will portray Churchill in the film, titled Captain of the Gate, according to Hollywood Reporter. The film will tell the tale of how the popular wartime leader — who was the Prime Minister of Britain from 1940 to 1945, and again from 1951 to 1955 — stood against British parliament to defend the country from Nazi tyrant Adolf Hitler in World War II.

The film is being put together by production company Sierra/Affinity and looks likely to be financed by StudioCanal, which is behind the recent hit film, Non-Stop, starring Liam Neeson.
