It’s all about love with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.

The new Deadpool 2 trailer has left a lot of DC fans fuming. A quick joke made at the expense of Justice League has got them all riled up on Twitter, while Marvel fans stepped up in defence (and appreciation).

When Josh Brolin’s Cable walks into frame after his larger-than-life introduction, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool interrupts the scene to make some of his classic zingers. He observes that the visual effects on Deadpool’s arm aren’t complete and says, “What in the actual a**? Dale! Why are the visual effects not done? It’s a metal arm! It’s not like we’re trying to remove a moustache!”

The moustache Deadpool is referring to is the one Warner Bros had to digitally remove from Henry Cavill’s face in Justice League after Paramount refused to allow the Superman actor to shave it off because he was also shooting Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Cavill’s digitally altered upper lip became a hot topic of debate (and memes) online when Justice League was released in November.

This isn’t the first time Deadpool has poked fun at a DC movie (Deadpool is a Marvel character who belongs to the X-Men Universe). Reynolds made a jibe at Green Lantern, a character he played earlier and whose movie tanked with the critics and at the box office, in the first Deadpool film.

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also wrote the first movie. It is scheduled for a May 18 release.
