Actor Afshan Azad, who played Padma Patil in the Harry Potter film series, married her fiance Nabil Kazi on Sunday. The wedding was attended by Potter stars such as Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang, and Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the series.
Afshan, who according to a report on People.com wore a ‘long-sleeved white gown with embellished accents’, shared a picture from the wedding on her Instagram. “Yesterday was the most epic night. My handsome husband and beautiful in-laws went above and beyond and blew me away with the most magical Walima party,” she wrote alongside the picture, in which we also see her husband.
Bonnie Wright also shared a picture from the wedding on Instagram. “Over the moon to have been there with today Afshan. We love you so much! Congratulations to you and Nabil, wishing you so much joy in your married life together,” she wrote. Katie posted a similar picture on Instagram and wrote, “Celebrating our beautiful bride @afshanazad‘s special day.”
Afshan and Nabil had a traditional wedding ceremony ahead of Sunday’s festivities. She had posted an image and captioned it: “Incredibly blessed. After a year of planning on my own, the tears and tantrums, today was an absolute dream. Married and moved out of Manchester to start my new life. Thank you to my incredible family and friends, without you I’m nothing. Best wedding ever, even if I do say so myself! Keep us in your prayers.”
Padma’s most prominent moment in the Harry Potter films came in the fourth one (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), in which she and her on-screen sister Parvati Patil went as Harry and Ron Weasley’s dates to the Yule Ball.
