Trainspotting sequel debut trailer: Watch Ewan McGregor and gang reunite

Boyle reunites the original cast of Trainspotting with Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle all returning in the sequel two decades in the making.

Ahead of a January 2017 release, T2: Trainspotting catches up with characters from the 1996 film, 20 years later.

Based on an Irvine Welsh novel just as its predecessor was and featuring the same set of core characters, life has both moved on and stayed the same for T2: Trainspotting and its group of unconventional protagonists.

Ewan McGregor returns as Edinburgh man Mark Renton, as do Ewen Bremner (Spud), Jonny Lee Miller (Sick Boy), Robert Carlyle (Franco) and Kelly MacDonald (Diane); Danny Boyle is back in place as director.

The first film involved themes of young adult mischief and drug use: “Be addicted, just be addicted to something else,” counsels an apparently reformed Renton in the trailer.

T2: Trainspotting is to debut January 27 in the UK and Ireland, with international rollout commencing early February.
