12 die, seven injured in rains in Uttar Pradesh in 24 hours

As many as 92 people have died since last week in rains in separate parts of the state.

Twelve people died and seven others were injured in rains in different parts of Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 92 since last week, said officials in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Three persons were killed in Kanpur rural, two in Hathras and one each in Chitrakoot, Auraiya, Allahabad, Unnao, Amethi, Jaunpur and Fatehpur. “The total number of those injured (since last week) is 91,” said the officials. More than 600 houses were damaged and 59 cattle were killed.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked senior officials to tour affected areas and get dilapidated buildings vacated, a government spokesperson said in Lucknow.

Adityanath has also directed officials to provide immediate financial and medical assistance to people affected by rains.
