In her complaint, the woman has claimed that her husband too was involved in the crime.

Mohneesh Mishra, superintendent of police, Hailakandi, said the victim was taken to the Hailakandi Circuit House by her husband on May 19, where she was raped by Choudhury, the AIUDF MLA from Algapur constituency.

Mishra said the victim has named her husband as a co-accused. The couple has been married for about 3–4 months, and the husband works as a dance teacher.

He was giving private tuitions to Choudhury’s children.

“We are questioning people trying to ascertain the sequence of events,” Mishra said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.

Choudhury refuted the allegation, saying, “She is being used by my political opponents.”

“Is it possible that I can rape someone in the circuit house where there are people, my personal security officers and others?” he asked.

Choudhary said he has not been called by the police yet. “It is because of the problem between the husband and wife. The husband has only lived in the house for three days after they got married and then problems started,” he claimed.
