‘Not forgotten, will never forget’: Rajnath, Jaishankar, among leaders, to pay tributes to 26/11 Mumbai attack victims
26/11 Mumbai Terror Attack: One of the worst in India's history, the terror strikes happened over a period of four days from November 26 and to November 29 wherein more than 150 people, including security personnel, civilians and foreign nationals, lost their lives.
Several leaders from across the country on Saturday paid homage to hundreds who lost their lives during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai as India marks the 14th anniversary.
A statement by President Droupadi Murmu on Twitter read: “We share the enduring pain of their loved ones and families. Nation pays homage to the security personnel who fought valiantly and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” the tweet further read.
External affairs minister S Jaishankar also paid tribute by sharing a nearly two minutes long video, highlighting his statements from last month's memorial event by the UN Security Council held at Mumbai's Taj Hotel's lobby. The hotel was one of the sites where the terrorists had targeted in 2008.

“Terrorism threatens humanity. Today, on 26/11, the world joins India in remembering its victims. Those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice. We owe this to every victim of terrorism around the world,” Jaishankar tweeted along with the video.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh also joined in paying tributes to the victims of the attacks. In a tweet, he said that he “salutes the memory of all those who lost their lives in this incident”. “My heartfelt tributes to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives while fighting this attack. This country has not forgotten the incident of 26/11, nor will it ever forget,” his tweet read.
Union home minister Amit Shah also paid his “heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks”. “I…remember and salute our brave security personnel who made the supreme sacrifice fighting the terrorists. Today gives a message to the whole world to fight unitedly against terrorism,” he tweeted.
The 2008 Mumbai attacks was one one of the worst terror strikes in India's history; it lasted for four days till November 29. Over 150 people were killed during these attacks, which included civilians as well as police personnel, and even foreign citizens. More than 300 individals were left wounded in the attacks. As many as 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), an Islamist terrorist outfit from Pakistan, entered Mumbai via the Arabian Sea and unleashed mayhem by carrying out coordinated attacks in multiple locations across the financial capital of India. Besides Taj Hotel, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Leopold Cafe, the Nariman House and the Oberoi Trident were other places where the attacks took place.
