The Centre had recently submitted before the SC that it considers Rohingyas to be a threat to national security. Reacting to this, Omar wrote on Twitter that this stand on the Centre is post-2014 phenomenon and that the argument was never forwarded during security meeting prior to 2014.

On Wednesday, BJP state spokesperson Virender Gupta in a statement said even though Omar Abdullah is a member of a major political party of J&K and is a former chief minister, he “matches the separatists in his statements and gives the impression of being a fundamentalist in his approach”.

He was also reacting to Omar’s recent statement wherein he asked if the Dalai Lama be asked to leave the country and Tamil refugee sent back.

“During the Amarnath land row, Omar and his party opposed construction of temporary shelters for pilgrims, In the parliament Omar announced that not an inch of the land can be given for this,” he claimed.
