Rahul Gandhi attacked the incumbent government over inflation while adding that the media of the country isn’t showing the true picture of the economy.

MEERUT The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre is instilling fear among farmers and youths while turning people against each other, said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing a gathering at Chaprauli Chungi in Baghpat during his Bharat Jodo Yatra on Wednesday. He added, “We all need to come together to stop BJP from using these tactics. Abolishing fear and hate is the major motive of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

Turning to farmers who participated in the yatra, Rahul said, “The UPA government waived off 70,000 crore farmers’ debt in just 10 days whereas the BJP only makes these exceptions for corporate houses and millionaires.” He also raised the issue of unemployment in his speech saying, “Those with engineering degrees are forced to do menial jobs. Meanwhile, the dreams of hundreds of youths who aspired to join the armed forces were dashed when this government rolled out the Agniveer scheme. This had a significant impact in western U.P. where youths in large numbers prepare for recruitment into the armed forces.”

Rahul also attacked the incumbent government over inflation while adding that the media of the country isn’t showing the true picture of the economy. “They (media houses) run stories of cheetahs that have come from Africa but don’t report the widespread unemployment in the country.” In a veiled attack on the government, Rahul said, “Media houses are not being controlled by their actual owners but someone else.”
